About Ellis County

Ellis County sits beyond the southern border of Dallas County and covers 952 square miles, 15 cities, 7 towns, and several unincorporated areas. It was once a part of Navarro County, but Gen. Edward H. Tarrant sponsored a bill in 1849 to incorporate the area into its own county. The bill passed, and Ellis County was officially established.

Ellis County is named for Richard Ellis, president of the Congress that declared Texas’ independence from Mexico in 1836. The city of Waxahachie has been the county seat of Ellis County since its establishment. Originally the territory of the Tonkawa tribe, Ellis County is known for its black soil and flat land that transitions into low, rolling hills. The economy relies on cement and steel production, warehousing and distribution, and government services. Many residents commute to Dallas for work. Attractions include Scarborough Renaissance Faire, the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, and Lake Bardwell.

Ellis County is adjacent to Dallas County to the north; Kaufman County to the northeast; Henderson County to the east; Navarro County to the southeast; Hill County to the southwest; Johnson County to the west; and Tarrant County to the northwest.

Weather in Ellis County

Like the rest of North Texas, Ellis County is warm throughout most of the year. The summer heat often reaches into the triple digits, and the area sometimes freezes during the months of January and early February. Because of its rural nature and large areas of flat land, Ellis County is vulnerable to tornado and wind damage, especially between the months of March and May.

Common HVAC Complaints

The most common complaints we get from Ellis County residents include AC units blowing hot air or not blowing at all; thermostats that won’t stop clicking on and off; and units that stop working altogether. Most of these complaints can be traced back to improper maintenance or an overworked unit. These issues are most common during times of extreme heat when air conditioners have to work harder than usual to cool a home. Some old or neglected units can’t keep up with demand. This can be fixed with cleaning, repairs, and tune-up, or sometimes with a new unit.

Our HVAC specialists are factory-trained and have an average of 15 years of experience in the heating and cooling industry. They participate in ongoing training so that their skills and knowledge are always up to date. All are NATE-Certified Technicians. NATE is an independent organization that promotes excellence in heating and air conditioning repair, installation, and service of HVAC equipment by recognizing high-quality technicians through testing and certification.

Our team is made up of experienced individuals who all share the same values of honesty, integrity, and outstanding customer service.
